Sipping for a Cause

Inspired by stories from my Vietnamese Great-Uncle Hung, I began travelling to South East Asia when I was seven, and in the years following was able to have culinary and boba tea training in both Vietnam and Taiwan. Of course, I also sampled all of the boba I could find across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Japan! Motorbiking across Vietnam with my family, sampling boba, was a particular highlight. The styles and flavors were so varied but each unbelievably delicious, and I wanted to bring this experience back to my wonderfully quirky mountain hometown of Nederland, Colorado. While our town was made famous by Grandpa Bredo, who was kept frozen in a Tuff Shed in town until we celebrated him annually during Frozen Dead Guy Days, it felt like it would welcome a new dimension of flavor, and Nederland certainly did! This also opened up an avenue for me to support my incredible grandfather, who not only played in the NFL in the 1st Super Bowl, but managed to get a Master’s degree in science in the off-season and is as big of a book-nerd as his daughters and me! He is suffering from dementia, and I cannot let this happen without aiding the research around this horrible disease. Thank you all for supporting this cause!
